Here is the tally of birds seen at the March (and final) snipe flush.
There were a total of 39 snipe (29 common, 10 jack) :
- Hay Meadow 5 (all common)
- Upper Sowerholme 4 (all common)
- School Pond 4 (3 common, 1 jack)
- Big Meadow 26 (17 common, 9 jack)
The following birds were also spotted by the team:
- heron on Cromwell’s Pond, seen again on School Pond
- 2 meadow pipits in School Pond, 3 in Big Meadow
- 3 mallards in the School Pond rush
- long-tailed tits in the School Pond hedge
- 2 teal on the West Field scrape
- little egret flying about
- moorhen on the ponds by Aldcliffe Road
- several pheasant
