Playground History

In 1996 a local developer bought some derelict garages next to the Green, and applied to the site owners, the City Council, to buy a small part of the play area as well, in order to build new housing.

Orchard History

The Fairfield Association created the Orchard in 1999-2000. It was one of 250 millennium greens created across the country.

Fairfield Nature Reserve History

The Nature Reserve was created in two stages: Fauna on agricultural land leased from Lancaster City Council (agreed by Cabinet in 2009) and Flora on land bought bought between 2011 and 2013

Triangle History

In June 2012 a ‘Friends of the Triangle’ group was formed, with the aims of transforming the land into public green space and bringing the workshop building back into use.
