News from the Feeding Station

The battle with the squirrel continues. We have now put a chain over the seed container to deter to keep the squirrel from getting in.

Seed bin with locks

At least we hope it does …

Meanwhile the small birds wait for us in the hedge to fill up the tables so get to the seed first.

We continue to see 20 plus chaffinch as well as  reed buntings, robins, goldfinch, blackbird, blue tits.

Thanks to the volunteers who have trimmed the hedge we now have a good view into West Field where we have seen a flock of field fare which move between the field and Pony Wood, as well as  linnets. There have also been further reports of a barn owl hunting along  the brook at dusk.

Pink foot geese regularly fly over. Today we watched a mistle thrush banging a snail on a stone in Little Wood.
