The Fairfield Association has its 30th birthday this year and we’d like to mark the occasion by gathering people’s memories of the last 30 years – and possibly even further back!
Early memories
We want to hear from you if you remember anything about the early days of the Association or the area before we saved the playground, opened the orchard and developed the nature reserve.
Recent stories
We’re also looking for more recent stories – maybe your child took their first steps up the slide in the toddler area or you used to sit under the oak tree in the orchard to revise for your exams!
We are looking to gather old photos and written recollections, but we’re also keen to record oral history contributions that we could host on our website and log with the Lancashire Archive.
Two requests
Join the history team
If you would like to get involved in helping to deliver the oral history component then you could become part of the small team delivering this project. We’d be looking to make the recordings in April and May. All that would be required is the willingness to meet up with people offering to tell their tales, record them and send us the audio files. Equipment can be made available.
Please email if you are interested in oral history or just like chatting to people and would like to help out.
Share your memories
If you yourself have a memory that you’d like to share with us, you can write it in our online form, or you can choose to have your story recorded and the volunteers will arrange a time to come and record your story.
You can make more than one submission if you think of something else. We’re also asking for any old photos of the early days of the Association or further back in history. These can be uploaded or we can arrange to have them scanned and returned to you.
We look forward to hearing from you soon.
Kind regards,
Andrew.
