Following the opening of the playground we conducted a survey as to what people thought. We had 24 different respondents who made 110 comments in total.
Compliments
People love the variety. They say there is a good selection of swings and slides – people particularly enjoy the coco-wave swing.
The playground is seen to be well-built and feels safe.
People like the fact it looks bright and exciting whilst using wooden fences and other touches to still appear in-keeping with the area.
The playground is seen as an important community hub, with one respondent saying ‘it’s the only place in Lancaster where I see people from all walks of life come together connect’.
Feedback
Some respondents would like to see additional accessible and sensory items of play equipment. An accessible swing would be beneficial as would a small play hut to facilitate imaginary play.
One respondent suggested adding signs to encourage children to learn about nature.
There is a suggestion that plants around the playground would benefit from some attention and planting additional trees would provide extra shade in the future.
Respondents feel the benches would benefit from repair or renewal as would the bins.
A few people feel the football area needs refurbishing with additional nets added.
