Children’s Festival: Lancaster Lore Story Hunt with Mike Forde

As part of Lancaster Litfest 2026, the Lancaster Lore Story Hunt is coming to Fairfield Nature Reserve. Find the wildlife stories hidden around the reserve and solve the puzzles first to win a fantastic set of children’s books. Eight brand new local folklore and wildlife stories will be created and hidden across Fairfield’s hedgerows, orchards and woodland!

Book tickets

  • Places are limited and tickets must be bought in advance. They can be bought online or in person at the Dukes.
  • It is one ticket per person (adult or child) so accompanying adults need to buy a ticket as well. You cannot buy tickets in person on the day.
  • There is a £1.50 booking fee for online orders.

In order to access the stories, you’ll need to bring a phone which can scan QR codes!

Mike Forde is a local storyteller and creator of the open-source folklore project Lancaster Lore.

The Fairfield Association

The Fairfield Association are supporting the event by enabling it to take place in the Nature Reserve and Orchard, but we have no involvement in the organisation of the event or the selling of tickets. All proceeds go to Litfest.
