Everyone is invited to bring a picnic and join others for a “blossom picnic” between midday and 2pm on Saturday 2 May 2026 in the Orchard.
Orchard Blossom Day
Orchard Blossom Day is a new annual celebration taking place across the UK and Europe encouraging people to appreciate what an important local resource orchards are for people and wildlife.

Six orchards across Lancaster will be open to visitors – and you’ll find more than just apple and pear trees. From grapes, feijoas and hops in Miss Whalley’s Field, to prickly ash in Scotch Quarry and medlars in Fairfield there’s something for everyone. If you’re feeling energetic, you could walk between all six orchards!
If you’re interested in finding out more about heritage orchards or want to find other orchards nearby which will be open, take a look at www.orchardnetwork.org.uk
