Otter on Canal

Sunday 20th July, approx. 3pm

I spent 20 minutes watching an otter slowly progress along the canal from opposite the gate out of the Pony Wood path down to the footbridge to Ripley Heights. It then jumped up onto the bank and into a garden, just by the large weeping willow next to the bridge. A few minutes later it came back through the hedge and back into the water. I didn’t see which way it went after that.

If you look very carefully, you can see the otter slip into the water from the bank.

So exciting – my first otter sighting in Lancaster!
