Report a Sighting

The Fairfield Association have just set up an exciting new project to record many of the different observations being made of plants and wildlife in Fairfield Nature Reserve and in the Orchard.

Fairfield Association iNaturalist Project

iNaturalist app

Anyone can take part, you just need to install the free iNaturalist app on your smartphone. Then, if you see something interesting, use the iNaturalist camera to take a photograph or record a sound. Just make sure you have allowed the app to record your location.

If you aren’t certain what you have photographed, don’t worry. The app will make suggestions, and once its uploaded, naturalists from all over the world will also help identify what it is.

iNaturalist website

Alternatively, instead of using the app, you can use the iNaturalist website. If you prefer using a laptop or desktop, you might find this easier. Just sign up for a free account and you then can upload any photographs or sound recordings you have taken and then add the date and location after you have uploaded the item

When using the website, you don’t need to have taken the original photographs or sound recordings with the app or a smartphone. Any digital image is fine.

Automatically part of the Fairfield project

Whether you use the app or the website, as long as the location is included, your observation will automatically become part of the Fairfield project and enable everyone to see what is being recorded in the area.
