Each year, the Fairfield Association produces a calendar featuring photographs taken in Fairfield Nature Reserve, Fairfield Orchard and Aldcliffe Road Triangle. It is one of our major sources of fundraising.
Each month features a different image, and we rely on local people submitting photographs they have taken throughout the seasons. We then choose 12 of the images to feature in the calendar.
Frequently asked questions
How do I submit my photograph?
We have a simple online submission form where you can upload your photograph.
When can I submit my photograph?
For the 2027 calendar, our deadline is 15 August 2026, but you can submit at anytime of the year. In fact, we prefer to get photographs throughout the year rather than lots of photographs in August.
Does my photograph have to have been taken this year?
No, for the 2027 calendar, you can submit photographs that have been taken in 2025 and 2026.
Do I have to submit my photograph the same month it was taken?
No. You tell us the month the photo taken on the form, but you can submit it anytime of the year.
What format and size should my photograph be?
- The photograph should be a JPEG or TIFF
- It should be landscape (i.e. wider than it is high)
- Minimum 3600px wide and 2600px high
Should I upload a compressed image to save memory?
No. Please upload the photograph in its original size because printing requires high-resolution images.
Can I submit photographs taken with my phone?
Yes, most modern phones have very good cameras. As long as the image meets the requirements detailed above, it will be fine.
Can I send you photographs for the calendar by email?
No. We had various problems with email submissions, so now ask everyone to submit their photographs using the online form.
Is there a limit on the number of photographs I can submit?
Yes. You can submit a maximum of 24 photographs over the year.
How do you decided which photographs are included in the calendar?
We have a committee of five people who go through all the images at the end of August to make their selection. They try to achieve a balance and variety of photographs that capture the changing times of the year.
When will I hear if my photograph has been chosen?
We will let you know by email in September.
Will I be paid?
No. The calendar is for fundraising, but if your photograph is chosen, your name will be clearly credited on the calendar and you will receive a complimentary copy.
