The Fairfield Association depends on volunteers, who play an essential role in fulfilling our charitable objectives. Opportunities for volunteers include:
- Maintenance and enhancement of our land, principally the Fairfield Community Orchard and the Fauna and Flora Nature Reserves, on our monthly or fortnightly work parties.
- Assisting in Forest School and other educational activities, or at our annual events for the community such as the Easter Egg Hunt, the summer Fun Day and Apple Day.
- Donating items for sale at community events – especially by baking cakes for us to sell at our refreshment stalls.
- Essential behind the scenes activities such as delivering newsletters, joining regular committee meetings or groups organising particular events, or volunteering for specific administrative roles.
Some of the events the Fairfield Association runs throughout the year include Wassailing in January, the Easter Egg Hunt, Go Wild activities in May/June, Fun Day in July, Kwik Cricket and Apple Day.
We depend on volunteer help for all of these events, for tasks including setting up and taking down (marquees, tables etc.), helping at tea/cake and other stalls, and many other activities, including planning and preparation. We also offer educational activities to schools during term time, and other activities including wildlife hunts and Forest Schools to children during half terms and holidays. We particularly welcome young people to help with these activities. Please note that for all activities involving children, references may be required.
If you’re intending to take part in a sponsored activity, such as the Cross-Bay walk, we have also got a Sponsorship Form for you to download:
